Why the Jolly Roger Logo?
The pirate theme of the website is really a metaphor for a very common theme in marketing and design, which is to "think out of the box". Comparing the success of your business (or project), to a war between yourself and your competitors - I believe it is vital to abandon the conventional rules of business, and as a Pirate might have done in the 1600's, attack with unbridled zeal where winning in the only acceptable outcome.
The logo I designed for the site - my take on the jolly roger - reflects this theme, as well as the modern cutting edge aspect of the media industry. While traditionally the jolly roger would be seen with two swords, here we have 2 flintlock pistols. For their time, the flintlock was the best technology had to offer and no self respecting pirate would be caught without one.
