Below I post actual rates for my work.
Of course, the details of any particular project effect the cost, but below in B+W (or dark brown and cream) are some of my basic pricing structures.
I do not change my pricing on the basis of who a client is.
I do not inflate my prices based on the clients industry.
My prices only change to reflect the scope of the work.
I typically bill by the project, but for comparison/reference:

Web Site Development
Template based Web Sites
cost: ----
When someone is trying to get onto the web at an extremely low cost, they may consider purchasing a web template. A web template is a prebuilt website that anyone can buy, then customize and use for a small fee (usually starting around $300).
Who needs this?
No one serious about their business.
I do not offer web template design, because in my 11 years as a web developer, I have never seen a client launch a successful business from a template platform.
In fact, just the opposite, over the years I have gotten MANY clients who have come to me after having used a web template for a length of time - having seen no results, they hire me to build a custom site.
Static "Brochure" Web Sites
cost: $1600 and up
A static or brochure site is website that presents the same information to all visitors.
Updates to this type of site are done manually via someone with a knowledge of html.
Don't be petrified of having to manually update your site. A professionally coded, professionally commented, professionally supported site can EASILY be maintained.
Who needs this?
Someone looking for a core web presence to build their brand, explain their services and present a professional image.
CMS Web Sites
cost: $2000 and up
A CMS or Content Management System website, is a site built under a structured framework that allows the client to make periodic updates through their browser.
With a CMS a client can upkeep their site with little or no html knowledge - HOWEVER, there is always a learning curve to working with any CMS system.
Depending on the individual needs of the client, a CMS system may or may not be necessary as compared to a clean, properly executed static site.
Who needs this?
Someone looking to make frequent (daily) changes to their website - or someone who wants to update their site without the help of a web developer.
Dynamic Web Sites
cost: $2500 and up
A dynamic website is a site that displays different information to different visitors.
These types of sites can include real estate listings, online catalogs or extensive forms and surveys.
All of these features require your site to interact with a database.
Who needs this?
Someone looking to deliver custom content to visitors.
Someone looking to capture detailed info from their visitors.
Someone looking to offer more functionalty to their visitors.
E-Commerce Web Sites
cost: $3200 and up
An E-Commerce site - as the name emplies - is a website where electronic commerce can take place. Items may be bought and sold.
There are three main ways of building an E-Commerce presence;
First, hosted E-Commerce. With Hosted E-Commerce, the client rents a pre-configured storefront on an outside host, that he or she customizes visually and stocks with his/her products.
The client pays a monthly E-Commerce fee. This is the cheapest means to get a functioning E-Commerce platform - however, it is the most limiting option, and carries with it a number of other disadvantages.
Second, Self Hosted Site E-Commerce. With Self Hosted E-Commerce, the client uses an established E-Commerce software on his/her own site. This creates more work and maintenance for the site, but allows for virtually complete control over all aspects of the site and its function.
Lastly, is a Custom Build E-Commerce site. This option is reserved for the mega business sites, where the entire E-Commerce platform is built from the ground up. This allows for total control over all aspects, features and functions of the site.
No matter which E-Commerce is implemented, there are many involved facets and factors that come into play when handling sensitive customer information like credit cards or bank routing numbers.
ROARR! SEO Services
Initial SEO Work
I offer SEO services for small and medium sized businesses in 3 "plans".
Basic plan: Managed 1-2x a week
cost: $550
Standard plan: Managed every other day.
cost: $1100
Comprehensive plan: Managed daily.
cost: $2000
Generally speaking all of these plans touch on the same aspects of SEO and web marketing. The difference is the degree to which any one aspect is exploited. The plans also reflect work spread out over the initial month - cramming SEO work into a few days serves no purpose, as some degree of review and analytics must take place.
Hit the ROARR! link above to view my small business SEO page, which talks a bit more about my SEO services.
SEO Maintenance and Analytics
Once an initial SEO plan is executed the plan should be followed up to take full advantage of the data collected, and make the most of the SEO efforts. Typically, this follow up is performed 2-3 months after the initial work.
I have 2 maintenance plans for reocurring SEO work.
Basic: cost: $550
Standard:cost: $1000
Maintenance includes blogging, responding to posts, managing pay-per-clicks, etc...
Analytics is compiling reports, analyzing reports, and giving detailed explanations and recommendations of refinements and future strategies.
FINAL SEO NOTE
I will always take a look at a site and have a general consultation with a client before agreeing to do SEO work but SEO work can sometimes yield unexpected results. If a case arises where a clients SEO efforts have not delivered sufficient performance improvements - I will not simply abandon the client. I want your business to succeed - so if your site hasn't improved as hoped, expect some extra milage and effort from me to get things on track.
Business Branding (Logo Design)
Small Business
Small business branding focuses on creating the perfect visual identity for a small business or individual. This is suitable for marks used to represent a Static product or service, where the mark is always seen in the same fashion. The mark may be typographic, iconic, or illustrative in nature.
Competitive Analysis, and Market Strategy are explored in a basic fashion.
cost: $250 and up
Large Business
Large business branding focuses on creating the perfect visual identity for a Large business or Corporation. This is suitable for the strongest possible Static marks, or marks used to represent a Dynamic product or service, where the mark is seen in variations of its initial conception. The mark may be typographic, iconic, or illustrative in nature, and may combine multiple aspects in its variations.
Competitive Analysis, and Market Strategy are thoroughly explored.
cost: $1200 and up
Website/Marketing Consultation
Often I am approached by a client who has a particularly large project or a smaller but particularly complex project in which they need help organizing their goals and creating a successful strategy. In these instances I am initially brought onboard as a consultant.
My fees in this role vary depending on the level of detail I am required to provide - this can range from a single sheet breakdown analysis, to a numerous page report.
